Why have the Assembly’s functions been transferred to the Strategic Leaders’ Board ?
In November 2008. the Government publish it’s long awaited response to the consultation document, Prosperous Places: Taking Forward the Review of Sub National Economic Development and Regeneration. One of the main recommendations made was that the regional planning and policy making role, which was undertaken by the Regional Assembly, will be taken over by a combination of the Regional Development Agency (RDA) and a new Local Authority Leaders’ Board. In response to this, a new decision making body, The Strategic Leaders’ Board (SLB), was set-up to respond to this impending change in legislation.
