Why have some persons who support G-6.0106b also supported Overture 04-18 (Item 05-07) in its call for a new AI?
It will allow Presbyterians to uphold present policy in terms the whole church has authorized. The proposed AI will make clear to all in the church that G-6.0106b is the standard that applies equally to all candidates examined for office as deacon, elder, and minister. Homosexuals will not be singled out; many in the church appreciate this fairer, balanced application of ordination standards, even while not approving of the ordination of gay and lesbian Presbyterians.
