Why have some of my programs lost functionality after Service Pack 2 is installed?

After installing Service Pack 2, some programs may not seem to work in the manner you expected. For example, an FTP client or Internet game. This can be resolved by modifying port settings on the Windows Firewall. More information can be found at Microsoft’s website.
