Why have seven companies in Georgia, including two engineering firms, been cited for software piracy?

0

The anti-piracy division of the Software & Information Industry Association has long led the battle on education and enforcement of intellectual property. The goal of these efforts has been to reduce the rate of software piracy from a current 36% to zero. However, while educational and enforcement programs have been in place, many companies, for various reasons, refuse to put the systems in place to effectively monitor their software assets. SIIA will discuss what organizations may do to reduce their liability – and also their costs of license management. Some of the issues covered in this presentation will include the importance of creating clear policies and procedures on the use of intellectual property, the software audit and how many of these tools have become fully automated, and examples of past matters to provide the incentive to do the right thing.
