It’s a lack of self and cultural identity and self belief. It’s like the use of the term ‘eww’, how facile is that. Another one is the rising tone at the end of a statement as though it was a question. They really don’t understand how childish and affected it sounds. i do believe that they think it makes them sound as thought they’re with the in crowd. It does also show a complete lack of individuality and confidence that they seem to want to follow what everyone “seems” to be doing. It’s also not just “middle class” youngsters that do it.
