As fire units respond to a call for assistance, closer units will arrive first and provide undated information, via radio, to the remaining responding units. Firefighters are dedicated to reducing risk to the community and themselves therefore if the information from those units who arrived at the incident indicate that it is no longer an emergency, the responding units will turn off their lights and siren and reduce their speed.
