Why have Fujitsu (formerly Fujitsu-Siemens) computers all but disappeared from the high street?

You’ve half answered your own question. Fujitsu obviously prefer to target the business market in Europe. The consumer market is very price competitive with often lower quality machines selling on smaller profit margins. Mass market consumers don’t always want to pay the extra price that solid well made computers demand, they just want high specifications at the expense of robust quality or rock bottom prioces and there are many mass producers banging out suitable machines for them IBM for similar reasons pulled out of the home computer business.
