Why have alternative-fuel/non polluting cars not replaced or partially replaced the fossil fuels?
If you wanted to organize a new pick up game in the school yard you would probably find a lot of resistance it it was not the traditional football, baseball, basketball or the like. We have been using a “traditional” way to power our vehicles for over 100 years. There is basically only one game in town and everybody has to play it if you want to participate at all. People can generally give a lot of resistance to change. The electric car is very different in some ways to the gasoline vehicle. In many ways it would be much easier to start new than try to replace an existing vehicle. 1 Also you can imagine that when there is only one game in town the suppliers of the equipment rather like it that way. They have what they consider a “vested interest” in keeping the status quo. Basically this means that they derive their income from the way things are and will do whatever they have to to keep it that way.
