Why have a Personal Health Information Registry?
The Personal Health Information Registry (PHIR) is necessary in order for AHRC to fulfill its mandate relating to the identification of health and safety risks, and its obligation to provide information to Canadians. When it is operational, the Registry will also allow people who undergo AHR procedures and those conceived through such procedures to obtain health information about a donor of sperm, eggs or an invitro embryo. However, the donor’s identity may not be disclosed without the donor’s written consent.
