WHY HAVE A MODEL UNITED NATIONS SIMULATION?
Most Model United Nations conferences are national and international competitions. However, the Osgood Center offers a program that is a simulation of a conference, in order to prepare schools for national conferences. The simulation is a chance for schools not only to practice speech-making, resolution and report writing, but to participate in these activities with students from other schools representing other countries. The Osgood Center will tailor the topics and committees to ensure that students are able to debate and engage in topics that are relevant to the countries and committees assigned to them by a national conference. WHAT WILL THE MODEL UNITED NATIONS SIMULATION LOOK LIKE? The simulation will be run as a full-fledged conference in order to allow students to practice proper protocol, understand procedures, and become comfortable with skills such as negotiation, caucusing, and speech making.
