Why Have a Cardiac Nuclear Imaging Exam?
The heart receives blood from vessels called coronary arteries. When these vessels become partially blocked or restricted by the accumulation of fatty deposits, the heart may not receive the proper amount of blood it needs to function properly. The narrowing of coronary arteries is often referred to as Coronary Artery Disease or CAD. Cardiac Nuclear Imaging Exams are used to diagnose the presence of CAD and to assess cardiac function.
