Why hasnt fuel prices dropped at same rate as crude oil has dropped?
The price of crude and even the levels of oil surplus has little to do with the price you pay at the pump. Oil companies will often use those as excuses to raise the price, but as you pointed out, they never use those same excuses to lower prices. The cost of gas at the pump often reflects what they think the cost of oil will be in the future, not what it costs now. They can get away with that because they have huge lobbies in congress that make sure the oil companies always end up on top.
