Why has US Foodservice selected Buda?
Buda was one of several possible sites designated close enough to the old plant to retain their trained workforce. An E-mail (Exhibit #2, ORR, City of Buda) dated October 22, 2008 from the broker Susan Harris, Austin Site Solutions, to Sarah Mangham, Buda City Staff, references a meeting with Austin Mayor Will Wynn to secure a “permission slip from the COAustin”. This is a requirement for neighboring cities to OK a business moving from one to the other. What is interesting is the response letter from Mayor Wynn (Exhibit #3, [Page 1 Page 2] ORR, Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas Capital Fund application records) to Buda Mayor Lane in which this is characterized as a win/win for both cities “even though the City of Austin would prefer to be able to keep the jobs within the City of Austin they understand that affordable large enough plots of land are hard to come by and that the relocation to Buda will keep current employees in their homes in Austin and still provide new jobs to the
