Why has the New Zealand cricket tour of Zimbabwe gone ahead?

I couldn’t agree more. The New Zealand Government hasn’t hidden it’s opposition to the tour at all & it’s extraordinary that NZ Cricket have gone ahead with it. The actions of Robert Mugabe have been dispicable & there’s concerns for the safety of the NZ travelling party. I also heard this week that Air Zimbabwe have grounded all their internal flights due to shortages of fuel & spare parts ! The only gain for the cricket side themselves is a few world ranking points which they’d obviously pick up anyway given the depleted & inferior Zimbabwean squad these days. I’ll naturally follow the cricketing side of the tour with major interest, like every tour but why they are there I’m bewildered.
