Why has the LG Improvement and Development moved to peer assessment as the only form of external accreditation?
First, the Equality Framework is a national standard. Because it is less prescriptive than the ESLG, the Diversity Peer Challenge process will provide an essential moderating function and ensure nationally recognised standards of improvement and a consistency of approach across authorities. Second, we are committed to peer reviews because they ensure that the learning is both done and kept within the sector. Those who do the reviews learn and take that learning back into their authority and the sector in general. Third, it is less expensive in most cases.
