Why has the INC program been transferred to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT)?
The transfer to DFAIT allows the INC program to benefit from DFAIT’s ties to the business community and better understanding of business needs. The transfer will allow DFAIT and its portfolio partners to provide Canadian investors with an integrated set of services; from preparing them for international markets, studying the viability of a specific investment, to contracting and financing assistance through Export Development Canada (EDC) and Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC). The program’s primary objective remains the same: to support responsible, developmentally beneficial, private sector engagement in developing countries leading to sustained economic growth and poverty reduction.
