Why has the flat-billed hat caught on?
The first thing I do when I get a new hat is break in the bill so I can curve it. Apparently, that makes me horribly out of style, among other things. The general style for high school baseball players now is maintaining a flat bill on their caps. That trend has grown steadily for the past five or six years to where it is far more common than a curved bill. Sapp has gone as far as buying both curve- and flat-billed hats so his players have a choice. The Titans coach said that whatever is popular at the College World Series trickles down into the high school ranks.
