Why has the City of Calgary partnered with Project Porchlight?
The City of Calgary supports Project Porchlight as part of its commitment to reduce Calgary’s Ecological Footprint. Energy accounts for 66% of Calgary’s footprint. Changes in how we reduce the use of energy provide the greatest opportunities to reduce our Footprint. In Calgary, Project Porchlight will help foster positive environmental behaviors around energy reduction; prevent thousands of tonnes of greenhouse gases from being emitted and save millions of dollars in energy costs. Project Porchlight will deliver one free compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) to 168,000 Calgary households beginning in October, 2008 through to January 2009.
