“House says the things we all want to say,” Shore explains. “Whatever your job is, there are aspects of your job you enjoy and aspects you don’t enjoy and quite often those other aspects are dealing with idiots. This is the guy who tells the idiots they’re idiots.” Laurie says the most physically demanding part of playing House is using the cane. “I actually find it more constricting than walking with a limp,” he says. “To be one-handed, to drink a cup of tea and put two sugars in and open a door and answer a telephone becomes incredibly time consuming.” What viewers hope to be time consuming is watching House’s relationship with the love of his life unfold.
