Why has romeo and juliet survived for over 400 years?

Well, actually most people die before they are one hundred. If you mean the Shakespearean play, called “Romeo and Juliet”, then that’s a different matter, lol. This plot of this play is based on universal theme of two young people who fall in love. A previous person said that it was based on conflict between “rich and poor”, this is not correct. It was a matter of a family feud, one that went on so long, that hardly anyone knew why one family hated another family. So, because Juliet was a member of one family, and Romeo from another, their destiny was doomed. The fact that the lovers died by their own hands, suicide, made it tragic. (especially since Juliet had not actually died, but had faked her death). The modern version of this story was “Westside Story”.
