Why has NED chosen to utilize NIEM?
NED has chosen to use NIEM because it is based upon the proven Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM), which has already achieved successful nationwide implementation. Following in the footsteps of GJXDM, NIEM is already employed in many sectors of DOJ and DHS, and is a requirement for information sharing by all Office of Justice Programs (OJP) grantees. In addition, NIEM provides a mature set of tools, resources, training and technical assistance to its users, ensuring that the implementation of NIEM is as simple and painless as possible.
