Why has my Y-chromosome haplogroup changed?
Your Y-chromosome haplogroup has changed because a new version or update of the Y-Chromosome Consortium’s (YCC) phylogenetic tree has been published. Scientific understanding of the Y-chromosome tree is still evolving as the world’s anthropologists discover SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) mutations. The YCC changes the names of the branches to reflect new discoveries that delineate additional haplogroup branches or change scientific understanding of the sequence of SNPs defining a branch.
