Why has my hen stopped laying?

A. Hens do occasionally stop laying from time to time, especially during the winter months when there are fewer hours of daylight. They can stop laying when they go through their moulting season, or when they have been unsettled by a move, or a newcomer into their flock. They can also stop laying when they have been fed the wrong type of food for some time i.e too many treats or kitchen left overs! It is best to give them the occasional treat, but not so much as to spoil their appetite. Layers pellets or layers mash is the best feed for them. Also, a poultry tonic (we sell Mineral Powders & Liquid Tonics) added to their feed or water will help them to continue to produce good eggs.
