Why has my doctor never heard of glyconutrients?
First, there are some top medical doctors who are using glyconutrients in their daily practice, suggesting that their patients add this important nutrition to their diet. Most physicians currently in practice attended medical school before the discovery of glyconutrients. The medical school textbook Harper’s Biochemistry, included a newly written chapter on glycoproteins in 1996, identifying the eight vital glyconutrients and their function. Before that time, medical students were not aware of this new discovery. Although there are nearly 5,000 articles published daily pertaining to glycobiology, information about how these sugars work in the body is still not common knowledge. Because glyconutrients are natural nutraceutical products, and not drugs, many of today’s doctors are not yet familiar with them.
