Why has INAC engaged Service Canada to assist with application intake?

0

• INAC has begun a phased transition of Treaty 7 First Nations from the current Treaty 7 card to the new SCIS. Since mid-October, 2010, INAC Alberta Regional Office in Calgary and the Blood Tribe of Treaty 7 First Nations began SCIS application intake. The remaining Treaty 7 First Nations (Siksika, Stoney, Piikani and Tsuu T’ina) will follow in late 2010. Because a large number of First Nations live off-reserve, INAC has partnered with Service Canada to provide easier access to the SCIS application intake process for these individuals.
