Why has CNN taken off Talkback Live that came on the air at 3:00PM every weekday afternoon?
CNN has axed popular daytime talk show TalkBack Live after nine years on the air. The show was presented live during the week from a shopping mall near the CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Teya Ryan, CNN’s executive vice president and general manager, said: “As we face mounting tensions abroad and growing threats here at home, it makes a lot of sense to program this network in a way that both meets the demands of our viewers and the news environment in which we find ourselves.” TBL’s final show was last Friday, although its host Arthel Neville is expected to stay at the network. The show has been replaced by an expanded edition of Live From hosted by Kyra Phillips and Miles O’Brien in Atlanta. Live From now runs from 1pm to the start of Inside Politics at 4pm Eastern. Despite its generally good ratings, TBL was a frequent target of critics, who pointed to its less serious tone compared with most of CNN’s other hard news programming.
