Why has Busan been chosen to host the third IPBES meeting?
The metropolitan city of Busan is the second largest city in the Republic of Korea which can offer real comfort to all those participating from abroad. Notably, the city provides a well-established infrastructure for international conferences with international airport, conference centers and many hotels, among many other factors. Located in the south of the Korean Peninsula, Busan has unique biodiversity features which can be seen anywhere in and around the city: to name a few, you can find marine ecosystem with beautiful scenery, biodiversity in wetlands, estuaries, and forests. In addition, various eco-tour programs are in place for the visitors to enjoy such ecosystems and biodiversity. Korea believes that Busan blended in harmony with rich biodiversity fits well to the purpose and concept of the 3rd IPBES meeting.
