Why has BSAC released the clarification statement?
A statement was initially sent to BSAC Technical Instructors at the end of 2009 to remind them of the current and established position regarding the above. The subsequent response indicated that some branches were teaching this technique as part of core training. BSAC therefore felt it was necessary to circulate the reminder to ALL BSAC Instructors to ensure consistent training standards and to advise BSAC Instructors of the potential liability issues.
