Why has British society becomeso corrupt?
No true leaders for a very long time. Leaders with no morals. Government who realised that the working man had grown beyond its station in life and was starting to have an influence on everyday matters, that was a time to slap us all back down and what better way than causing havoc in society to the point that we now have to work all hours that God sends just to keep afloat. In the fifties a man would go to work and bring home a wage to keep his family and Mother would be at home to care for that family, now both parents are working, children spend too much time on their own, bringing themselves up. It takes constant attention to manners and such like to ensure that a child grows to adulthood equiped with social skills and good manners. These things do not happen on their own, someone has to teach children but sadly parents are very often too tired and just take the easy route and allow their offspring an easy ride to adulthood and therefore no firm moral grounding. It is far less corrupt than it was prior to the 1832 Reform Act; indeed, given the greater use of investigative journalism and statutes like the Freedom of Information Act, it is arguable that present-day society is in fact less corrupt than even fifty years ago (the era of Suez, and of Profumo lying to the Commons), but seems more corrupt because of the greater ease with which information is transferred. For example, the selection of MPs by constituency parties and the appointment of judges are both open to a far greater degree of public scrutiny than would have been expected even twenty years ago, public bodies publish their accounts, and alleged financial wrongdoing by MPs is now openly debated. Have you any idea what the expenses rules for the House of Commons were in 1969, and how often they were breached? I suspect such matters were never revealed.
