Why has British Columbia contracted a Trade and Investment Representative in India?
British Columbia has deep and established roots with the people of India. The government wants to increase British Columbia’s trade and investment with India and one of the most effective ways to do this is to have local expertise on the ground. Over, a quarter-of-a-million British Columbians, about five per cent of the population claim South Asian ancestry which are mostly people from India. According to the latest Census numbers, nearly 160,000 British Columbians’ mother tongue is Punjabi.
