Why has Britain put foreign aid before the Cumbria situation?
Cumbria has a population of half a million and a few thousand are affected by the flooding. The rest of the world has a population of around 6 million and most of them are on the verge of starvation. No-one in Cumbria is likely to die or starve. Their homes will be reinstated by insurance – or by government hand-outs if they were too daft to have insurance. The million in emergency aid should help get things running again in the short term. In the longer term, European and central government funds will repair the infrastructure. You may like to sit on your backside in your cosy little country wanting hand-outs while most of the rest of the world starves. Some of us prefer to be members of the human race.
