Why has ADBI restricted participation to journalists from developing countries only?
The awards are focused on journalists from developing countries in recognition of the fact that journalists in these countries often face special difficulties that do not exist in developed countries. It is thus frequently hard for journalists from developing countries to compete on a level playing field with colleagues from developed countries or from the better-known and better-financed international media organisations.
