Why go from nitro to electric motors?

0

Steve O’Donnell: We’re entering the electric arena in addition to our nitro program. Duane Silva, who works for me had a strong interest in electric motors and has tuned form many of the world’s top drivers. I figured this would be a great opportunity. I’ve actually wanted to do an electric motor for a while. XRC: How long has the motor been in development? SO: Almost a year; once we were satisfied with the design concept we had prototypes running in about 6 weeks and from that point it’s been an extensive test program to get where we are today. XRC: Is the magic in the endbell? SO: It’s certainly one piece to the puzzle. We have plenty of ideas on can and arm design, but for now we’re very happy with the results. We’ve tested motors with 60 runs on them and the level of performance is amazing. We’ve spared no expense on the development of this motor. XRC: Is a stock version in the works? SO: For sure. We’re working on a stock version right now actually. XRC: Why the name Team Checkpoi
