Why go after kids beach lemonade stand?
On Aug. 3 my son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren (Amelia, 8, and Charlotte, 5) were visiting from Dallas, Texas. We set up our annual summer lemonade stand in the sand on Bayside, anticipating a fun-filled afternoon. The children look forward to this activity and prepare by decorating each lemonade cup with stickers or artwork. Most of us have fond childhood memories of our own lemonade-stand experience. So it was extremely troubling to me that a man in a green park ranger uniform approached us to proclaim that my granddaughters must have a permit to sell lemonade unless the stand is on private property. With so many important issues that need to be addressed and corrected to make our beaches cleaner and safer, and with a shortage of law-enforcement officers, why do we have a ranger stopping children from selling lemonade? Couldn’t he find something better to do? PHYLLIS THOMSON Mission Beach The ‘real cure’ for city’s pension problem I see that Mayor Sanders wants to put a Ban
