Why ginkgo trees dont extinct, why this tree considered so primitive?
This tree never went extinct because it probably had occurred over an extremely wide range, had remarkable genetic flexibility and though evolving genetically never showed much speciation. It’s considered primitive because it hasn’t changed much since the Paleocene era, but has been around since the Permian. That’s 270 million years.
