Why Forum Theatre in the Middle East Expedition?
To solve problems in our society, we need to involve people in the discussion. We wanted to make a project that started from the young people’s own experience. We believe that young people need to be listened to –both for the reason that they have something important to say, and because when you are being listened to –you grow. When you get responsibility for something –you grow. When someone ask for your opinion and really listens to it –you start developing it. How do you do Forum Theatre? A Forum Theatre play shows a real life story, a real life problem, that reflects the audiences’ own lives. The workshop and performance leader, the Joker, encourages debate about the situation in the play and invites the audience on stage to change the situation for the better. In that way Forum Theatre becomes a training ground for acting in real life – a creative space for inventing new ways of dealing with the problems we are faced with.
