The Edexcel geography specification (A) offers a strong foundation in both physical and human geography and in practical skills. It addresses many themes which will be important during this millennium such as concern for the environment and an appreciation of global changes and inequalities. The specification allows students to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of physical, human and environmental geography whilst also enabling students to recognise and explore the interrelationships between physical and human environments in a synoptic context. Fieldwork is important there is an opportunity to produce an individual investigative study which is assessed as coursework rather than being the subject of an examination. The course will also offer students the opportunity to achieve maximum key skills development.
