Yes, there are other children with countless afflictions and situations that deserve your attention, energy and help. We want to draw your attention to kids with cancer because every day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer. And Cancer remains the number one disease killer of children; more than genetic anomalies, cystic fibrosis, and AIDS combined. Here’s what you can do: GET INVOLVED The easiest way to help out Wigs for Kids is to lop off your locks! The organization accepts hair that is 12 inches long; clean and dry; and submitted in a plastic bag in a ponytail or braid. Most importantly, the hair cannot be previously colored or permed. “Unfortunately, processed strands of hair become too weak to make into a wig,” explains Christine Kett, executive director of Wigs for Kids.
