Why exactly did Thomas jefferson write the declaration of independence?
Jefferson was admitted to a committee with John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Sherman(his first name escapes me) It was originally thought that Adams would write it, because he was by far one of the most vocal voices of the independence movement. However, Adams was a member of a number of committees and didn’t feel he had enough time. So Adams asked that Jefferson write it, believing that he was a more eloquent writer. That’s how it happened.
