Even though Eclipse is an open source tool, IBM has used it as its platform of choice to deliver many of their solutions. Eclipse is a very robust, rich, flexible and widely accepted platform. Functional Tester benefits from all of the object oriented features in Java and therefore I use them when developing my automation framework.
