Why during the wedding reception is there the bride bouquet throwing?
The tradition of it goes back to medievel times, when the wedding dress was considered good luck – so women used to try and steal/rip pieces of the brides dress, leaving it in tatters. To try and combat this, brides began to throw things to distract the masses, including the garter and flowers. The bouquet eventually became the common thing to throw.
