WHY DRAIN LAKE POWELL?
Did you know that two organizations, the Glen Canyon Institute and the Sierra Club, are proposing to “restore” Glen Canyon and its side canyons by draining Lake Powell? These groups have joined forces in promoting this idea and have made many misleading public announcements and proclamations. We, the “Friends of Lake Powell,” are a coalition of rational and caring people brought together to counter their proposals. We are forming with people like you who also love Lake Powell. The main thrust of our initial activities will be to gain membership of people like yourself to help us “Save Lake Powell” for the many generations to come. With your grassroots support we can show the people in power at the local, state and federal level that we are totally opposed to the Glen Canyon Institute and the Sierra Club initiatives toward Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam.
