Those sorts of organizations are pretty great, especially for artists who have never made a proper studio album. However, it’s not right for Telling on Trixie. Because we’ve already made our first record, two videos, a remix album, we have seen how much it costs and what it takes. We’ve formed personal relationships with everyone from club owners to radio promoters. Also, we don’t want someone owning our masters for a year. We want to make our own decisions with our own advisors, without getting the approval of some ex-record executives over in Holland. We already have Grammy-winning, platinum-selling producers on board. With those groups, the $50,000 that the artists raise only makes one album, with a third going to the corporation, and no marketing. With our plan, no one is taking a share of our $50k, so we’re going to use the money to make more art (an album and a video) and to actually get it heard through our marketing and publicity people.
