African history is usually a specialized study area limited to history scholars or persons who have direct reason to be economically interested in Africa. Not much of Arica’s history has had a direct or major impact on U.S. history, other than the very major events relative to the slavery periods. But studying such history has very little attraction for most students … unless, you happen to be of Afrcan heritage.
