Why don they start formal education until the year they turn 7?
The purpose of ‘creative play’ as happens in the kindergarten is to: • nurture the development of the senses • build motor skills in readiness for writing • “explore the world” • to imitate “work” The child is not “ready” for work that calls on their memory and developing intellect until their physical development reaches a certain maturity, which commonly happens around 7 years of age.
