Why don they merge the senate and the house of representatives?
Well, you have to keep in mind why we have a Senate and House in the first place. The House was developed the represent states by population based on political districts formed in the states, based on the census. Therefore, the enormous population of California is fully represented, as is the minuscule population of Wyoming, but the interests of the majority Californians in the House are not ignored in favor of the interests of the minority of Wyomingites. The Senate, however, would ensure that each state would then have equal representation by allowing two Senators to represent the whole state of each state. Therefore, in the Senate, the representatives of California have the same influence as the representatives of Wyoming, meaning that neither interest in compromised and is given an equal opportunity.
