Why don the land managers fix the trails themselves?

0

In order to repair the trails, the land managers would need a large budget for materials, machinery and staff. All the of the land managers are publicly funded (they are a charity, a local authority, and a government body), and it’s an unfortunate fact that it’s much easier to get funding for new projects than to maintain existing ones – hence the success of the 1SW project. At present none of them would be able to afford to pay for full-time maintenance but we do get support “in kind” from the powers that be, such as donations of material and use of their resources. The involvement of volunteers also means that we can have much more input into the trails than if someone else was doing it for us.
