The Oilers have always been an insiders-only, old-boys-from-the-glory-years organization, and they get away with it because their fans have always accepted it. Every year, the rationalizations and excuses flow like wine. The Oilers are a western version of Leafland, where the lemmings ignore the mediocrity and blindly follow because they are apparently incapable of demanding accountability.
