I have talked to holocaust survivors. Some have no problem talking about it, some will open up if you really want to know, some will talk to others who were involved, but not younger people, some try to forget it ever happened. From a psychological point of view, some humans are emotionally and psychologically stronger than others. A weaker mind has more trouble dealing with it to begin with. The experience was horrific regardless of who went through it, but a weaker minded or emotionally weaker person would have broken down very early in the process. Can you imagine the person you know who has the most anxiety issues being put through all that? I can’t. So, after all the horrible things they felt and saw and experienced and lost… their way of coping was to try and put it behind them as quickly as possible and never think about it if possible.
