Why dont people have access to health care?
People have inadequate access to quality health care for a variety of reasons: • Some are uninsured because they are unemployed, their employer doesnt offer health benefits, or they simply cant afford costly premiums (such as small business owners). • Others have insurance that doesnt cover the full range of prevention, early detection, and treatment options that should be available to everyone. • Still others are deemed uninsurable and denied coverage because of pre-existing health conditions. • And finally, many people face yearly and lifetime caps on their health insurance, and/or limits on the number of their doctor visits, especially to specialists.
